Customer Profile - Olivia and Leo*
When we talk about the difficulties of relocating internationally, we generally focus on the more obvious logistical issues. However, it’s often the subtle differences that create the biggest challenges. For example, finding a property that suits your tastes can be quite difficult when you come from somewhere with decidedly different design sensibilities.
This is something Olivia and Leo recently discovered when they relocated to Canberra for work. Coming from Scandinavia, they were looking for somewhere that had the minimalist feel they were used to. They also wanted a property that had a leafy outlook and allowed them to connect to nature.
As they hoped to move straight into their new home when they arrived, they started their search while still based overseas. However, they quickly realised they would need some local support, and were referred to us by a member of our agent network. From our first interaction, they were a delight to deal with, so we were more than happy to help.
Given Canberra’s bushland setting and ample green space, we knew the leafy outlook wasn’t going to be too hard to secure. We were also confident we could find somewhere that suited their preferred design style.
To make sure we were on the same page, we started by getting their feedback on a few properties that seemed suitable. This helped us get a clear idea of exactly what they were after and allowed us to put together a more targeted shortlist. Several of these properties appealed, so we arranged video walkthroughs with one of our Inspectors.
The 9 hour time difference made scheduling inspections a little difficult and required some flexibility on both sides. However, we were able to show them through most of the properties they were interested in. And one of those – a modern one-bedroom apartment – seemed to tick all of their boxes.
As we had already worked with them to collate their required documentation, we were able to move quickly. Within hours of their inspection, we had submitted their application and started working with the Property Manager to get them approved. After a little back-and-forth, we were given the good news, and Olivia and Leo were able to start seriously planning their move.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with Olivia and Leo and appreciated being able to help make their move a little easier. We wish them all the best as they settle into their new life here in Australia.
