Meet the Team: Jess Pawsey
If you have worked with us over the last 6 months, you have probably had the pleasure of interacting with one of the newest members of our management team – <Jess Pawsey>. Since joining YHH back in August 2023, Jess has made an invaluable contribution, bringing extra focus to our On Market research activities. She has also started coordinating our Off Market search activities, working closely with our Property Manager network to identify upcoming opportunities that may suit our clients.
To help us all get to know her a little better, we asked Jess a few hard hitting questions – here’s what she had to say:
What motivated you to join the YHH team?
Despite working in real estate for a number of years, including dabbling in property management, I wasn’t too familiar with what a renter’s advocate did. But when I checked out the YHH website, I was inspired by the client testimonials, the structure of the business, and the service offered. It was clear that Wendy had found a niche market and with her own personal experience and knowledge, built a solid business that has a lot to offer renters. I really wanted to be part of its growth and was excited about helping renters find a place that truly felt like home.
What does your job entail?
As YHH’s Research Lead, I discuss the clients ‘wish list’ with them and scour the main real estate sites for suitable properties. I also occasionally inspect properties on behalf of, or with, clients.
What's one piece of advice you would give someone starting their rental search?
Be clear on what you need/want in a property and suburb, and work out what you’re willing to compromise on. Also, be patient – the market is really volatile at the moment, so it’s taking longer to secure a property.
What does your perfect weekend look like?
Spending time with family at home. My little boy, Sully, has just turned 1, so very much keeps us on our toes! Also, enjoying a nice drop of red wine and perhaps wandering at a market.
What's one thing on your bucket list?
I enjoy travelling and haven’t made it to the US yet – I’d particularly love to go to New York one day.
What's your secret talent?
I make a really good prawn spaghetti. It’s not much of a secret though, as I make it a lot – it’s pretty much the only thing I cook when friends or family come over for dinner!
